UC Unbowed exists to create collective pressure to strengthen the University of California as a pillar of power in support of democracy.
We fulfill our mission by organizing UC alumni and the community to defend the University of California from an authoritarian regime, and to demand that the University act with integrity and a whole-hearted commitment to democratic values.
ABOUT UC UNBOWED
Since taking office, the Trump regime has launched a sweeping effort to bring America’s universities under political control. Their tactics involve withholding billions in federal research funds unless universities agree to grant the regime influence over hiring, DEI policies, curricula, and permissible speech—an unprecedented intrusion into academic independence and a direct threat to the free flow of ideas critical to a functioning democracy.
UC Unbowed unites alumni and community members to support students, faculty, and staff in defending the independence, integrity, and democratic mission of the University of California in this dangerous political moment.
We envision a University of California that advances knowledge, transforms lives, and serves the diverse people of California. As the world’s preeminent public research university system, UC must light the way for colleges and universities to serve as engines of social mobility, innovation, and academic freedom, accessible to all.
